P.G. Diploma is one of the oldest training programme of IIRS. It is of 10 months duration. The programme is modular in structure :

Module 1 (4 months) : covers Basic Phtogrammetry and Remote Sensing
Module 2 (3 months): covers core subjects in six thematic disciplines .
- Agriculture & Soils
- Forestry & Ecology
- Geosciences
- Marine & Atmospheric Sciences
- Urban & Regional Planning and;
- Water Resources

Module 3 (3 months): This module is exclusively for the project work. Candidates will take up pilot project in the concerned thematic discipline. It gives an opportunity to the students for planning and education of the project work based on knowledge gained in Module 1 and 2.

IIRS also provides PG Diploma in Geoinformatics and Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk Management dealing with various aspects of satellite remote sensing, GIS, natural hazards and risk management. This is an international course of IIRS and being organized jointly with Faculty of Geoinformation Sciences (earlier known as ITC), University of Twente (UoT), The Netherlands. These courses offers excellent opportunity to interact with well experienced IIRS faculty, distinguished scientists of ISRO and experts from abroad.
